Ingredients
- 4 ounces cold unsalted butter, sliced
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- Extra flour for dusting
Directions
Add butter and flour to a medium-large mixing bowl. Using a pastry cutter, two knives, or your fingertips, cut butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk and gently mix until moistened. Be careful to not over mix!
Dump contents of bowl onto a floured work surface and knead only 4 to 5 times. Pat the dough until about 3/4-inch thick. Dough will be loose; this makes for flaky biscuits.
Using a sharp knife, cut the biscuits into even squares. Then, using a pastry brush, brush tops of biscuits with melted butter.
Select AIR FRY and preheat your air fryer to 400°F until setting light stops blinking.
Place biscuits side-by-side in your pre-heated air frying basket with trivet. Fill the basket with as many biscuits as fit in a single layer without touching.
Cook at 400°F for 8 minutes until flaky and golden. Serve warm.
Recipe Note
Chef’s Tip:
For extra flaky biscuits, after cutting butter into flour (step 1), place the bowl in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. If you do not have self-rising flour, add 2 teaspoons of baking powder to 2 cups of all-purpose flour and mix well.
the biscuits are not brown on the bottom what is wrong
