Homemade Sticky  Buns Pecan Caramel Topping


1 3/4 chopped pecans (8 ounces)

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

3/4 cup dark brown sugar (packed tightly)

3/4 cup heavy cream

1/3 cup honey

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon finely grated orange zest 


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toast nuts on a baking sheet  until slightly darkened, about 10-12 minutes.

2. Let nuts cool completely and set aside.

3. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, cream, honey, salt and orange zest. Bring to a boil.

4. Reduce heat and simmer until the glaze is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
