This side dish combines the freshness of asparagus with the smoky and savory flavors of bacon, all glazed with a tangy barbecue sauce. Using the Kalorik 16qt Air Fryer Oven, you can easily achieve crispy bacon and perfectly cooked asparagus.
This recipe serves 6-8 people, making it an excellent addition to
your Memorial Day celebration.
24 asparagus spears, woody ends trimmed
12 slices of bacon, cut in half lengthwise
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Preheat the Kalorik 16qt Air Fryer Oven to 400°F (200°C) in the air fryer mode.
Divide the asparagus into 6 equal portions, about 4 spears per bundle.
Take a half slice of bacon and wrap it tightly around each bundle of asparagus. Repeat with the remaining asparagus and bacon slices.
Place the bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Air fry the bundles for about 12-15 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender. If needed, you can rotate the bundles halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
Remove the bundles from the air fryer and brush them generously with barbecue sauce.
Return the bundles to the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the barbecue sauce to caramelize slightly.
Carefully remove the bundles from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
Chef's Tip: For an extra burst of flavor, you can sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese or a pinch of garlic powder over the bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles before air frying. The cheese will melt and create a deliciously cheesy crust, while the garlic powder will add a subtle aromatic note.
Enjoy these BBQ Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Bundles as a standout side dish at your Memorial Day BBQ. The combination of crispy bacon, tender asparagus, and tangy barbecue sauce is sure to be a hit with your guests.
